Okay so Victorian erotica is literally the most heinous, morally bankrupt, horrific shit I’ve ever read - but I’ve read a fair bit, partly from historical interest but also because a while back I helped a friend with a university project she was doing about censorship and pornography in 19th century England.
Anyway I need to share with you all the most hilarious line that has ever been written, circa 1887:

I’m 5'11, but in most casual conversations I’ll say I’m 5'9. I do this purely for the chaos that it creates. Because everyone assumes that men only exaggerate their height up, it makes me look like the only person honestly describing their height and thus knocks at least 2 inches off everyone else’s description. The panic that the 6'1 guys feel at the thought of being described as 5'11 is hard to understate. I have had people run back to their cars to grab tape measures.
If I could get away with describing myself as 4'6 I would.

“why would you care about x when there are people trying to take our rights away!” as a response to literally discussion of intracommunity lgbt issues (that near-always have no negative impact on the person using this comparison) will never stop being a truly fascinating thing to me like. well you see if one person announces “im going to punch you right now” directly before hitting you in the stomach, and then another person talks about how fucked that was and reassures you of your safety around them directly before also just punching you in the stomach, your emotional reaction would fairly obviously differ in each of these situations and who hit you harder on a physical level may not be what determines which, on an emotional level, feels worse.
